Progress monitoring week 4

According to my schedule I have completed almost everything on my schedule for this week. I have mainly just been working on my front cover. I have been adding sell lines and sorting out the colours. I also did my photo-shoot in Thursdays lesson that went well and I got some very good images to use in my magazine. I have done everything I set myself on my schedule except starting on my contents page on Friday because I was sorting out images from my photo-shoot to use for my front cover.
My actions all went to plan as I am now not far off completing my front cover and I have done my photo-shoot and I am almost ready to start production on my contents page.
I haven’t learnt anything new this week in production but I have developed my skills more in [photography after doing my photo-shoot.
These are a few of the best images that came out

Project monitoring week 3

According to my schedule my plan for this week was to
-Complete the ‘How to survive a rock festival’ double page spread.
-Create the layout for my front cover
-Front covers sell lines
-Start adding colours to text
-Overall front cover production
I have been successful in completing all of my aims for this week.
Monday-
In Mondays lesson I completed the ‘How to survive a rock festival’ double page spread. This included touching certain parts up such as making the Download festival logo bigger and fixing up gaps in the text. These are things I got told when I asked a few people from my target audience how I could improve this double page spread.
This I a picture of my completed double page spread for ‘How to survive a rock festival’.

Tuesday-
Tuesdays lesson I planned to start production on my front cover. This started with the layout on Photoshop. I first created the header using the ’28 days later’ font and adding colours black with a red stroke around the edge creating red spikes on all the letters which looks affective on the front cover, suits the genre of magazine and is grabbing.  I then started to add a few sell lines, these being the ‘New and upcoming bands’ and ‘Free CD inside’.

Thursday-
In Thursdays lesson I carried on with the production of my front cover, this included making a circle for the ‘Free CD inside’ to go on. I then figured out how to bend text on Photoshop to go around the circle CD that says ‘Includes some of the newest Metal crazes with tracks from-‘.

Friday-In todays lesson I have been doing my weekly monitoring and am then going to carry on with my front cover more and get a couple more sell lines on my front cover.

My plan for the week has gone to plan very smoothly as I have been calm and got everything I wanted to do done. I wrote on a whiteboard what I was going to have completed each lesson so I could put a happy face if completed and upload onto my blog after taking a photo to monitor my progress accurately. I am feel very confident about getting my project easily finished in time with spare time to double check everything and gain feedback from my target audience in final improvements I could make.
I have developed a few skills on Photoshop such as learning how to bend text, as I was never aware of this before figuring it out on Thursdays lesson. I have been considering colours for my sell lines as they may change when I get my photo-shoot done and my front cover image placed onto my project. I have also added a black background until I get my image as my backdrop is going to be black for my front cover and don’t want to use any colours that may blend in with the background.
I think my client would be impressed with my progress this week, as I have got a clear construction of how my front cover is going to turn out. The completed header looks very eye catching and really fits with the genre. The reds and blacks are very bold and I think my client would be very happy with the header.
The current state of my project does mirror my treatment objectives as I have added all the blacks and red to the header with the bold eroded header. I didn’t include anything about the stroke on my header in my treatment, which has created ‘spike like’ features on it. This was just something I tried while creating the header and thought it looked very eye catching and much bolder than without.
At the current state I am at with my project I am not at all worried and feeling very confident with the rest of my production.

Weekly monitoring-week 2

My schedule said this week I planned to-

1. Write my ‘top ten best selling rock albums of all time’ article: starting my ‘Top ten bestselling rock albums’ article: I will put each album in order and start discussing each band and album with how many copies they sold and the most popular songs on each album.

2. My interview for, ‘how to survive a rock festival’ will be done by this point, so I will start writing the rest of this article then and adding more humor to the rough version of this article I already wrote.

3. Work on my blog, upload any finished work and complete and upload outstanding blog work.

4. Project Monitoring & start making amendments to my ‘How to survive a rock festival’ double page spread. Firstly adding the interview and any amendments I made to the original article.

Homework 1: Interview on the 18th with pulled apart by horses

Homework 2: Interview on the 20th with a new and upcoming band, and then write my article on ‘a new and upcoming band’ after getting both interviews done.

Homework 3: Film studies homework-Start filming for my short film.

I finished my article on ‘top ten best selling rock albums of all time’ and have worked on my blog; I have done a lot of work on my blog and its almost up to date. I didn’t meet all my aims this week but I will finish this for homework at the weekend. This week I was finishing 2 of my articles and on my blog I have uploaded influential photo-shoots, my flat plans, my images from a photo-shoot that went bad, and the images that went well. I have included a sentence about each image and why I will or wont be using them in my final product. I uploaded my photo-shoot planning documents. I didn't get round to making final amendments to my 'how to survive a rock festival' double page spread as i finished my planning and articles this week and next week i will start production so will finish final production for that double page spread. I wasn’t successful with all my aims as there was a lot more top do than I had realized and will now catch up on the few things I didn’t finish at the weekend. My client would think I made a good start to my production this week with finishing my articles and thinking about actual production. I am confident with my progress after the second week and I am keeping up with the workload well and am looking forward to starting production for my magazine.

Influential photos for my photo-shoot

These are a few of the images I have found while researching what images I need to take for my photo-shoot.

Weekly monitoring week 1

In this first week of monitoring i have created my schedule. This is to ensure that throughout the next 6 weeks in production i have everything done by the end.

Flat Plans for unit 5 products

These are my flat plans i drew for my magazine

The front cover of Metals Creed will have a bold red for the title that will stand out and contrast really well with the black background. There will also be reds on the sell-lines and some whites that will fit nicely and be the colour scheme throughout the magazine. The imagery will be of a girl doing the typical ‘Devil horn’ rock pose. This will appeal to the male audience and also the clothes she is wearing should appeal to the girls. She will be wearing dark clothes and heavy black make up that will allow the target audience to identify with the magazine and it will clearly show that it’s a rock magazine so it can be picked out if on a shelf. The font I am using is very bold and stands out very well.

The contents page will give the readers a clear layout of the magazine and means that they can see where each article is which makes it easier for the readers if they want to read a particular article. Under each page number I will put what article it is and then include a bit of what the article is about. The imagery on my contents page will be of a concert which will show the readers how it’s a real rock magazine. The title will be the same font as my front cover.

The imagery of this will be of the same girl mirrored on each page with a different t shirt on. The t shirts will be 2 of the album covers of the top ten best-selling rock albums. This should appeal to my target audience with them liking rock music. Next to each album name I will also have a picture of each album cover and below that I will write about each album and the band that got into the top 10. The image to text ratio on this double page spread will be about 60:40. This article will have sub headings for each album which makes it easy for the reader to see the bands/albums that were the top 10. The model will again be wearing dark clothing and have dark makeup, she will also be pulling a normal facial expression as to not draw too much attention from the album covers on the shirts. I am going to use butterfly lighting as I want the models features to really stand out and for these images to be really eye catching.
This font is again bold and draws the reader into the article. On the word rock I will again have spikes on the word which will be a theme throughout and a nice extra that really emphasize the word rock and should appeal to the readers.  I will be using a normal clear yet still bold font of Calibri (body) for the rest of the article as this will be a theme throughout as this text is easy to read.

The font for the text in this article will be bold and easy to read, probably Cambria (body) which is the text I am using now. I will have decent sized text to make it easy for the audience to read. My headline will be yet again bold and stand out well. The imagery for this article will be of a rock concert where you can see the band members communicating with the audience, and you can see the clear, awesome atmosphere at a rock festival.

The imagery will be of the band performing which should have good action shots and make them look really appealing to the audience. The colours will be dark and should outline the instruments and each member clearly. The header for this article will be bold and will also have a sub header of the name of the band. I have chosen the eroded text as it will look affective against a white background with the text being black and bold and will also not distract attention from the sub header that will not be eroded. This affectively should make the sub header stand out more which will give the new and upcoming band more notice which is my aim in this article. I will start my article with an image of the band and a paragraph on the background of this band and what sort of music they play. I will then go into the interviews of how they got started and what they are planning on doing in the future. I will also include a breakout box on the right hand side of the page that will include dates of when and where they have gigs.
